Surfer Girl

For the longest time I've been trying to get Ashlyn to ride some waves on the Boogie board, but she always resists -- until this weekend at Kailua beach! This is Ash with Uncle Rick who made the first successful run with her.

And she actually let me take her too! (I guess I destroyed the trust the few times I put her on and just pushed her onto the wave...) To be honest though, she was done after the ride with me. But she did proudly tell her Mom, "I rode the big board Mommy!"

The cruddy part of the day was when I got stung by a Portuguese Man o'War. It was just a small guy put he stung pretty good, even sent my upper quadracep into a short spasm. Heather laughed. Nice huh?

Here' just a couple random pics from the day. We're slowly weening Ashlyn off the water wings, but not in the ocean.

Jax loves the feel of the water, and the taste of the sand. A post is forthcoming about him.

Super mom!

That's so fun! Maybe you can help me learn how to surf one day too. Jax is looking handsome, muscle arms and all!

Hey, poor guy stung by a man of war...your friends need to know that Heather was stung by two within an hour and still went back in the water for more! And then hiked to a waterfall...what a woman! Love, Mom H

I think some clarifications are in order...

Yes, man of wars are deadly. However, PORTUGUESE man of wars are not. They are more itchy than anything, and the one that stung Jason was about the size of a thumbnail. tiny! And luckily, Jason wasn't as big of a baby as we all thought him to be. He was back in the water like a champ a few minutes later. Still hate those little blue bubbles though!

I can't believe how BIG your kids are! And so cute too!!! Well, about the "4th of July" phrase ... what about "Cinco de Mayo"? Isn't that the Mexican independence day? If the Mexicans can use the date to name their holiday, so can we! :) We miss you guys!!
