Dang Carnies....

It was the last weekend in May, and we had made it a goal of getting back on a budget for the month of June, so what better way to celebrate the end of no-responsibilities than by going to the 50th State Fair! The Matt and Melissa McIntosh family came with us, since we knew that they would be just as irresponsible. I mean come on, they're graduating soon and are livin' it up since real life is on the horizon!
The day started out perfectly, The first dollar I spent I won a turtle by popping a balloon with a dart. The last dollar Heather spent, she won a turtle by popping a balloon with a dart.
What happened to the 50 or so bucks in between? That's a different story.
As you can tell by the posts' title, those stinkin' carnival guys can getcha. They getcha everytime. After quite a successful start, we thought we'd be rollin' in those stinkin' stuffed animals by the end of the day, but that was not the case at all. Heather had no luck in the dime toss game,
I couldn't knock a stack of three blocks off a platform, a game I tried too many times by the way. I also couldn't hit a single basketball shot, let alone two which you have to do to win. And I couldn't bust all the teeth out of the monsters mouth on the monster mash.
Plus we both couldn't shoot the red star out of the paper with 100 pellets, although we both were pretty close. I have to say that was our favorite activity of the day.
Luckily, I have a practical and non-gambling addicted wife who paced herself and even stashed coins away for funnel cake and frozen lemonade. Not that 6 bucks for a junky funnel cake is a good deal, but I guess it beats the three softballs I threw at those stupid blocks! I had that game man. Anyways, the worst part of the day had to be the fact that the McIntosh's won five dolls whereas Heather and I only won two (remember? The first and last dollars we spent), and we spent more money on all those rigged games.
Making matters even worse, Matt won this monkey that Ashlyn absolutely loved so Heather said I had to go win one. Approximately seven dollars later, we left empty handed.
The game was a tic-tac-toe game where you had to pop three balloons in a row with three darts. Well, I got two in a row twice, but missed the last one. My old roommates would be ashamed since I was the Yorktown 10 dart master. Oh well, my baby loves me even if I'm a loser.
(but we all know I'm still the man)
Anyways, now it's June and we welcome in responsibility.
Well, at least until the next carnival comes through town.
Here's Heather shooting for your viewing pleasures:

When the carnival used to come to my town...right in my front yard, we used to gather up all my stuffed animals and walk through. We thought it was funny to look like we just won all of them. You can thank Uncle Don for that trick.
