The Hawaiian Adventures of Dad & Nancy - Day 4

Thursday, March 5th
Today we decided to go on a hike. Rain or shine, we were going. Luckily it was a very pleasant day to walk to Makapuu lighthouse. But first we stopped at the Halona Blowhole where we hoped to see a whale there, but there was none.I guess it wasn't really hiking since three strollers did accompany us on our stroll! We had Jaxon and Ashlyn in two strollers, while Mahele Nitahara, our neighbor and good friend, came with her youngest daughter Kiera.
If you've seen the movie 50 First Dates, this is the lighthouse that's in one of the scenes, it's also has the largest head lamp in the U.S. I believe. Dad loves lighthouses which is one of the reasons why we went.
Here's the gang at the top, it's less than a two mile loop, so it wasn't too bad. I'll let NANCY post some pictures of what the views look like since on her blog today, she was trying to cheat her way out of making any Hawaii posts and just referring her loyal readers to me. Punk face.
On the way down, Nancy and Mahele cruised there way to the bottom, while Dad, Heather and I stopped at one of the whale lookout points... and wouldn't you know...
It was far away, but with your naked eye you could see it pretty good. This is a humpback whale doing a pectoral slap. We also saw his tail slap, but never got a picture of it.

This is Mr. Whale blowing out water. Let me tell you what, if this whale was the Gospel, then everyone would know the message because Heather May literally shouted from the mountain tops, telling everyone she saw there were whales. It was quite funny to see, because that's very out of character for her. She was excited nonetheless and it probably made her year.

I then had to go to work, but Ashlyn got some bubble time in, and the three monkeys also took the young ones on a beach walk. But that's for NANCY to post. Aloha Friday and another hike coming up after the sunrises again!

After months and months of beach going, I'm glad you finally got to see a whale and lived to shout about it!
